We all have disorders
Currently in psychology we are leaning about psychological disorders. One disorder that seemed fasinating was schizophrenia. Schizophernia is characterized by a lack of integration amongst normal psychological function. In other words: a person seems to be out of touch with reality.
Here are the symptoms:
Someone who sees hallucinations, is paranoid, delusional, has distorted thinking, disturbed emotions (has no emotion or the wrong emotion for a certain situation such as laughing at a funeral), disturbed sense of self (think they are someone else or consider themself a "god" that should be worshiped), disturbed movements (eather they move a lot or are frozen due to overloads of dopamine), and disturbed interpersonal relationships.
Isnt everyone schizophrenic?? I think I am. I swear to this day that last summer I saw an aligator lying on the road on my way to my house. I also laughed last saturday when my friend Abigail told me her neighbor, Crazy Clair, died. Although we did call her Crazy Clair because she used to pull shotguns out on Abby, stole her toys out of her yard when she was young... I also remember spotting her staring at us in the middle of the night through her drapes and hearing scarry noises from her yard throughout the night. In fact we use to have fake fights over Tylenol in her yard because we wanted her to pull the shotgun on us (I have no idea why). Also, sometimes I dont make sense when I talk. To me I sound normal, but I guess I talk really fast sometimes. When I get excited I dont finish my sentences and will also skip over words... so I dont make sense all the time.
Who dosent have a psychological disorder? We all have a little bit of dissociative disorder in us when we forget something or have multiple personalities, or bipolar disorder when we have mood swings. What about panic attacks or when we get nervous or scared? And we cant forget about being obsessive compulsive. Eather it be about keeping you room clean, doing your homework, or thinking about your favorite band, we all obsess about something. I know I am a neat freak, I also obsess over my dog, Chase, who is the best dog in the whole world, and dont like wearing socks indoors. Oh and I have this thing for grape popsicles.
I think these sympotoms of psychological disorders is what makes us individuals. If no one was crazy or flawed it would be a boring world. I like flaws and to study wierd behaviors that people have. I like when people have wierd twiches or watching speaches given by people who fear public speaking. In a sad way the flaws of others make us feel better about ourselves. We also tend to hide our own flaws. I think we should share them with the world and shout them over the moutain tops. I admit... "I am afraid to use public bathrooms!!"
